5 Steps to Setting Attainable Goals Part 2: Make Them Measurable

Make them measurable

Make Them Measurable

Goal setting is not always fun, but it certainly can be effective. Now that we've worked through making our goals specific we will now focus and make them measurable. I know these seem elementary, but you will never guess how many companies we engage that just can't set an appropriate goal. So, let's get to it.

The second element of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals is measurability. A measurable goal is one that can be tracked and quantified. Without measurable goals, it's difficult to determine whether you're making progress or not. To reach measurability answer the following questions:

  • How much will it cost? Be sure to consider people, processes, marketing, technology, etc.

  • How many of each will it require?

  • How will we know when we've achieved it? What is the finish line?

  • What role does each member of your team play and why are they important?

So many goals are set without asking all of the right questions and involving the right people. This process may seem overwhelming, but if you need help we are here to support you through the process. Onward to step three!
